Style A natural, textured finish is complemented by a chunky 45mm deep frame. The design wraps around the sides of the mount adding another dimension to the artwork.
Printing Process Coulson Macleod canvas-mounted prints are produced using the very latest giclée print technology. Giclée (pronounced “zhee-klay”) derives from a French word meaning to spray. The giclée printing process provides better colour accuracy than other means of reproduction and produces incredibly detailed prints. The quality of the giclée print rivals traditional printing processes and is commonly found in museums and galleries.
Canvas Material
Coulson Macleod canvas-mounted artwork is printed on heavyweight 450gsm, 100% cotton, Brilliance Chromata White premium fine art matte canvas to ensure colour reproduction and longevity are at their absolute maximum. This canvas is optical brightener agent free (optical brightener causes yellowing over time) and has passed the Blue Wool standards test for light fastness (up to 75 years) and is one of only a few canvases to achieve this.
Hand Varnished
Coulson Macleod canvas artwork is hand-sprayed with five coats of Glamour II Giclée Matt Varnish to ensure maximum protection and a smooth consistent finish. This is a non-yellowing, water-based varnish that enhances the colour of pigmented and ultrachrome inks on matte media and increases resistance to image fading. It also protects images against moisture and abrasion. The combination of Glamour II Matt Varnish with Brilliance Chromata White Canvas delivers the most archival and colour-stable fine art reproduction available.

Museum Quality Frames
Coulson Macleod canvases are gallery wrapped by hand onto a wooden frame so that the image wraps around the sides. Coulson Macleod uses museum-quality frames with a 45mm profile. A rounded top lip and stand off ensure the canvas doesn't touch more wood than it needs to. The frames are Dutch spruce, free from knots and completely straight. Finger joints at each end are precision cut so they fit together and incorporate slots for the cross-braces. Wedges are used to keep the canvas tight. Frames are taped and ready to hang with a canvas wrap hanger that allows it to fit over a standard picture hook, so it hangs safely and flat against the wall.

HANDMADE, VINTAGE-STYLE OAK FRAMED PRINTS
Style
A handmade, rustic, vintage-style, chunky 8cm deep, rough-sawn, solid oak frame surrounds a white-washed oak panel printed with distressed typography.
Printed Oak Panel
The oak panel is cut and sanded by hand before being covered with coat of diluted white lacquer wash, to fill the grain, and then sanded and re-washed with the lacquer a second time. The panel is then over-printed with UV ink.
Vintage-Style Frames
A mitred frame is handmade using rough-sawn solid oak with a shadow rebate on the groove. The printed panel is encased into the frame which is then glued and pinned and ready for hanging.
