Coulson Macleod at Harborough Indoor Market | Shopping in Leicestershire, UK

With Christmas coming up, we recently spent a few Saturdays selling Coulson Macleod products at our local indoor market in the town of Market Harborough, Leicestershire. Steeped in history, a market has been held there since 1204 - over 800 years.

Evolving from a cattle market of the Middle Ages into the market hall we recognise today. In 2016, it was voted Britain's Best Small Indoor Market.

Our co-founder, Hannah, was delighted to be shown some photographs of her mum setting up her very own market stall back in the 1970s.

We thought it would be lovely to share them with you all alongside our experience of the market as it is today.

On the left is a photo of Hannah on our first weekend at Harborough Market. On the right, is a wonderful throwback of Hannah's mum. She sold Body Shop products at both Market Harborough & Leicester markets.

Hannah's mum's stall was next to fabric traders Bill & Jeany Adderley who went on to found Dunelm Mill. Humble beginnings & a rather inspiring story, for sure. We think the photo below might be of their stall in the early days but we're not completely certain.

If anyone could confirm, please leave a comment below.

This beautiful series of candid, black and white photographs were taken by Hannah's uncle around 40 years ago, at Leicester Market. Capturing great memories & certainly something to be cherished.

Today, Harborough Market has over 60 independent stalls covering everything from fishmongers, cakes & sweets to fashion, furniture & pet supplies so there's something for everyone. A few of our favourites include Classic Crêpes, Windowsill Plants, Dance is Everything, Dragonfly Gifts & Crafts, Refill Revolution, Dim Sum Master & Sarah Ruth Cake Company.

The food on offer was an absolute delight. We sampled fresh sweet crêpes, handmade sausage rolls & authentic Chinese Dim Sum.

If you're in the Leicestershire area, do pop into Harborough Market to show support for these local, independent traders.

We would love for this unique shopping experience to continue to thrive.
