Small beer, as we have now learned, is a lager or ale with a lower percentage of alcohol. Before the 19th century, sanitation was so poor that people drank 'small beer' instead of potable water. It was a common drink among sailors. Fast forward a few hundred years, and Small Beer Brew Co. has reignited the demand for this traditional drink using artisanal brewing methods in South Bermondsey. Choose from a lager, dark lager, steam or session pale. Anyone who loves craft beer will certainly have a favourite.
