Team Member Spotlight: Shell

Meet Shell.

Shell is our fabulously talented Artworker - if you've ordered a personalised card or print then Shell will have added in your names and dates. She's also constantly thinking up great new designs (even in her sleep).

What does a typical workday look like for you?

My day always starts with putting the kettle on (I blooming love tea). Next, I process any personalised cards or prints that have come in. After that, I’ll work on any trade orders that require prints, mugs and any personalised designs that shops have ordered.

Then I’ll carry on with new design development, working on ideas for cards, prints etc.

How would you describe Coulson Macleod in three words?

Imaginative, sophisticated and exciting.

What's your favourite Coulson Macleod product?

I love our concertina cards!

Before working at Coulson Macleod, what was the most unusual or interesting job you ever had?

It’s not all that interesting but as a student I worked for a couple of summers making those litter picking grabber things and sorting out plastic spacers into huge sacks. It definitely made me work harder on my degree course!

What kind of hobbies and interests do you have outside of work?

I love going to music gigs and watching live comedy. I'm also a runner which I love and hate in almost equal measures - the love part slightly more as it gives me time to clear my head (mainly because I’m concentrating on breathing!).

Favourite book or movie?

Ooh this is tricky. I don’t really have a favourite book, I used to read quite a bit – not so much since having children. I recently read a very funny book called ‘The Tent, the Bucket and Me’ which if you’ve ever been camping will resonate to some degree.

Movie – probably The Shawshank Redemption. If I ever catch this on TV (even if it’s really late at night) I always end up watching the whole thing.

Favourite travel destination?

Definitely Disneyland Florida. Hands down the best holiday I’ve ever been on (except for the long-haul flight, I HATE flying). The water park Blizzard Beach being my absolute favourite part.

If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?

I could live on homemade cottage pie, mmm.

What is one fun fact about you?

This is pretty embarrassing but, when I was 18 on a caravan holiday in the UK I tripped out the electricity for the entire site by drying my hair using an electric fan heater which caught on fire! I also HATE tomato ketchup with a passion.
